Cumulus Licensing LLC – Westchester County, New York Unit
EEO Narrative Statement

The following is our outreach strategy to assure that all qualified candidates, both within and without the communities served, who might be interested in employment with our company can apply for positions through Faith Ringelheim, Business Manager, as they become available.

  1. Notification of openings for all full-time positions is sent to those sources listed on the recruitment source list. This list, which includes entities devoted to the concerns of minorities and women, is periodically reviewed and revised to encourage both general and job specific referrals.

  2. Cumulus-Westchester County airs advertisements for positions that do not require radio-specific technical, operational or talent skills, including sales and administrative positions.

  3. All full-time existing staff, as well as staff of other nearby Cumulus owned stations, are notified of new openings through posting in common areas.

  4. Cumulus-Westchester County uses the internet for recruitment at all levels:
    • all full-time openings are posted on websites;
    • sales and part-time programming positions are posted on website;
    • the Cumulus corporate website encourages potential applicants to apply at the market level, and provides mapping for selecting specific markets in which the company operates stations.

  5. Cumulus-Westchester County advertises in local newspapers, trade publications and through trade associations.

Supplemental Recruitment Measures:

We recruit through numerous sources for all job vacancies including state job banks, local groups, colleges, churches and agencies.  We also use Radio Advertising and the Internet via our stations’ website.

Job Fairs:  We continue to participate is career fairs at the local colleges such as Mercy College, and Pace University.  WFAS was  a participating media sponsor for the Diversity Career Fair which is sponsored by the University of the State of New York and was  held at Westchester Community College on May 23, 2006.    Our Market Manager, Business Manager, Sales Manager and Promotions Director continue to represent the Stations at these job fairs.  We also participate in as many College Career Days as staffing permits.

Intern Program: We have an active Internship program that we promote through our website, on-air advertising and at the College job fairs.  We recruit from several local colleges.  College students participating in the program earn college credit from their respective schools. The purpose of the program is to expose these students to the different aspects of the Communications field.  They assist in the planning of Station events and participate in the execution of these events as well as other promotions. Several of these interns have been offered part time or full time positions in our Promotions or Programming departments.

Virtual Career Fair:  WFAS did a radio promotion for an online recruiting and job search done in conjunction with the Hudson Valley Help Wanted website and nine other Westchester businesses.  The purpose was to reach applicants by using radio as another media source to reach the job-seeking public.

On Site Open House: WFAS has been pro-active in recruiting for its sales department.  In addition to running monthly radio recruitment campaigns we have opened our doors and scheduled “Sales Open House” evenings where applicants can meet with sales and general managers to discuss the potentials of radio sales as a career.

Annual Scholarship Program:  Each year we partner with Unistar Credit Union to give a scholarship to a worthy student who has excelled scholastically in addition to giving back to the community by participating in community service and charity.
